3 Minnesota Wild Players Listed As Trade Candidates

The Minnesota Wild are not in a good place to get into the playoffs after a very inconsistent play this season. The team is nine points back of a playoff spot with one game in hand and have some below average pieces to sell. This is not an ideal situation for the Wild, but they are looking to do what they can and bounce back next season. There are three players from the Wild that Frank Seravalli listed on the top 50 trade candidates ahead of the deadline.

Brandon Duhaime

Brandon Duhaime is a pending UFA with a $1.1 million AAV cap hit. He seems to be an attractive potential acquisition for a number of teams for their bottom-six because of what he brings to the table. He uses his speed and is great on the forecheck. He is a big and physical player that many teams can fit into their lineup and will try to acquire.

Jon Merrill

Jon Merrill should get some attention as teams look to add depth on defense. He is a sixth/seventh defenseman and signed for a decent deal through next season. He has played under 13 minutes a game this season and gotten into 45 games, but the Wild have three available cap retention spots so that Merrill could be a very cheap add. He isn't anything special, but he does his job.

Pat Maroon

For Pat Maroon's cap hit and role, he has done decent this season with the Wild. At just an $800,000 AAV cap hit, he has four goals and 16 points in 49 games. Maroon is currently injured, but should be back within two weeks, so it is more than enough time to get him in some games ahead of the playoffs. He should cost a seventh-round pick as he was acquired for that much before, but his Stanley Cup experience is well worth it to have him in reserve or on the fourth line chipping in.
