3 Stanley Cup Contenders Set To Make Another Big Trade

There have been a bunch of big moves leading up to the trade deadline and three Stanley Cup contenders have already added key pieces. The thing about these teams is that they all still have their first round picks in 2024 to use to add another player or two.

All of the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Rangers have filled holes, but could very well make another splash for what is still out there on the trade market.

The Golden Knights have already added Anthony Mantha and Noah Hanifin, but could still use even more help up front and are still connected to a few of the best available forwards. They may already be set for a deep run again in search of a back-to-back Stanley Cup, but if they make another move and their LTIR players return for the playoffs, they will have a very good shot at doing so.

The Avalanche made a couple of huge moves bringing in Sean Walker and Casey Mittelstadt while sending out Ryan Johansen and Bowen Byram in separate trades. This addressed a couple of big holes, but as they expect to have a late first-round pick this season, that pick can be used to get someone to help with depth in case the team doesn't get healthy in time or injuries happen later in the season/in the playoffs.

The Rangers unfortunately lost Filip Chytil and Blake Wheeler for the season, so it was pretty obvious that this Stanley Cup contender was going to once again go for it this season with extra cap room to work with. Already acquiring Alec Wennberg, the Rangers can still make their forward group even stronger, and with their first still in hand, can bolster the top-six, making them an even deeper team once again.
