Blues Rumors: Oskar Sundqvist Standing Out as Trade Candidate

While the St. Louis Blues had a strong stretch, it seems at this juncture that they will be sellers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. The Nashville Predators and Los Angeles Kings have been red-hot, and they are now seven points ahead of the Blues for the final wild card spots in the Western Conference.

With the Blues expected to be sellers, players like Pavel Buchnevich and Colton Parayko have been creating some chatter in the rumor mill. However, they also have an under-the-radar trade candidate who should be watched closely during this week - forward Oskar Sundqvist.

Sundqvist, 29, is quietly having a solid season for the Blues in 2023-24, posting six goals to go along with 21 points in 60 games. That is solid production from a bottom-six forward, and it could lead to some teams calling the Blues about him because of it. Along with that, he also has an easily affordable $750,000 cap hit, which only adds to his overall appeal.

Sundqvist also carries value because he can play both down the middle and on the wing. That kind of versatility is something that playoff teams love to have. It also does not hurt that he has plenty of playoff experience and two Stanley Cups on his resume.

We will need to wait and see if Sundqvist gets moved from here. Some teams to watch closely include the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Edmonton Oilers.
