Trade: 3-Team Trade Sends Adam Henrique To Edmonton

Much sought-after center Adam Henrique has a new home, as the Anaheim Ducks have agreed to a multi-player deal that sends both Henrique and Sam Carrick to the Edmonton Oilers as part of a three-team deal.

Insider Frank Seravalli reports that both forwards will head to Edmonton, and a chunk of Henrique's $5.825 million contract will be retained by a third party team in exchange for a pick, as follows: 75% will be retained in all, 50% from the Ducks and an additional 25% from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Both players are impending UFAs, with Sam Carrick in the final year of a 2-year contract that carries an AAV of $850,000. The Ducks are retaining 50% on that as well.

The Oilers are giving up a 2024 1st-rounder and a 2025 5th-rounder to the Ducks, plus a 4th rounder to Tampa.

Henrique is having a solid year with 18 goals and 42 points in 60 games. Over 890 career regular-season NHL games, the 34-year-old center/wing has 257 goals and 521 points.

Carrick is a gritty fourth-liner who's registered 137 hits this season along with 90 penalty minutes. He's also added eight goals and 11 points in just 12 1/2 minutes of ice time per night over 61 games.

This move likely takes the Oilers out of the sweepstakes to obtain the deadline's big prize, Jake Guentzel.

Edmonton is on a five-game winning streak and sit second in the Pacific Division.
