Calgary Flames Daniel Vladar Out for the Season

Calgary Flames netminder Daniel Vladar will be shut down until next season after undergoing season-ending hip surgery recently. The Flames confirmed the news in a statement on Thursday.

Vladar had posted an 8-9-2 record on the season, along with a .882 SV.% and 3.62 GAA. The Flames are fighting for their playoff lives and will need a mini miracle to get in, with or without Vladar in the lineup. Calgary will now lean on youngster Dustin Wolf and veteran Jakob Markstrom for the remaining 14 games of the season.

The 26-year-old Vladar is signed through next season at $2.2 million AAV. It's expected he'll be splitting duties with Wolf next season as Markstrom is likely being traded in the offseason.

The surgery will allow Vladar the rehabilitation period required for a full recovery and to ensure he is ready to start the 2024-25 NHL season on schedule
