Canucks Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates

The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, let’s focus on the Vancouver Canucks.

Filip Hronek: Filip Hronek could certainly get a new contract before the season is over. He has been a massive force for the Canucks this season and is cementing himself as a star offensive defenseman because of it. When noting that he is now one of their top defensemen, the Canucks should be looking to lock him up long-term.

Elias Lindholm: While Elias Lindholm has had mixed results so far with the Canucks, we should not rule out the possibility of him getting an extension before the season is over. The Canucks gave up a lot to get him, and if he heats back up, he could be a long-term option for their top six and special-team units.

Dakota Joshua: Dakota Joshua is having a career season and has been a key part of the Canucks’ bottom six. Besides providing solid secondary scoring, he also provides plenty of physicality, so the Canucks are likely going to try to keep him around.
