Canucks Sign Elias Pettersson To Massive Contract Extension

The Vancouver Canucks have ended all the rumors and potential trade discussion by officially signing pending RFA Elias Pettersson to a eight-year contract extension that goes through 2032. This sees him get $11.6 million AAV.

General manager Patrik Allvin had this to say about the signing, "This is a very important signing for the Vancouver Canucks. Elias is one of the top players in the National Hockey League and is a key member of our leadership group. We know his best days are ahead of him and with his high end skill and desire to be the best, we look forward to seeing Elias succeed and grow. This signing is another example of our ownerships’ unwavering commitment to do whatever it takes to help us be a successful organization."

The Canucks currently hold the top spot in the West and have had themselves a breakout season. Pettersson is playing at over 1.2 points-per-game and has 29 goals and 75 points in 62 games so far. He will have the fifth-highest AAV for next season and continue to be a top line player for the Canucks who hope that their Stanley Cup window is just opening now.
