Capitals Rumors: 3 Offseason Suitors for Max Pacioretty

At the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, Max Pacioretty generated a lot of interest around the league but elected to not waive his full no-movement clause and instead decided to stay with the Washington Capitals. With the Caps now in the playoff race, it is a decision that both the team and the player are probably happy with. However, Pacioretty is also a pending UFA and could hit the market this summer because of it. If he does, these three teams should be in the mix.

New York Rangers: The New York Rangers were among the suitors for Max Pacioretty at the deadline. It makes sense, as they could use more help on the wing. Due to this, don’t be surprised if they try to land him during the offseason. The Connecticut native has been connected to the Rangers numerous times throughout his career.

Florida Panthers: The Florida Panthers are another club to watch when it comes to Pacioretty. There were rumblings that they were his preferred trade destination at the deadline if he were to be moved. With the Panthers having multiple pending UFAs, they could try to sign Pacioretty to an affordable one-year deal. He would be a nice addition to their middle six.

Washington Capitals: Why shouldn’t the Caps be in the mix, too? Pacioretty has been a good fit on their roster, and he showed loyalty to them at the deadline by deciding to stay put. On another cheap deal, he would undoubtedly be worth signing to a contract extension.
