Devils Acquire Kurtis MacDermid From Avalanche

We have another trade in the NHL. This time, the New Jersey Devils have acquired Kurtis MacDermid from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick and forward Zakhar Bardakov.

MacDermid, 29, will provide the Devils with more depth as they aim to cement themselves a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. He is a solid utility player to have for insurance, as he works both as a defenseman and on the wing.

MacDermid will also provide the Devils with more physicality, as he is known for his gritty style of play and overall toughness. That certainly is not a bad thing for the Devils to be adding to their group right now.

MacDermid has appeared in 29 games this season with the Avalanche, where he has two goals, 54 hits, 23 penalty minutes, and a plus-2 rating.

Bardakov, 23, was selected by the Devils with the 203rd overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-2 forward is currently playing for SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL, where he has six goals, six assists, and 71 penalty minutes in 51 games played. Overall, the Avalanche are getting another gritty prospect in exchange for MacDermid and a late-round pick along with him.
