Devils Rumors: Insider Names Top Fit for Tyler Toffoli

The New Jersey Devils are in a peculiar position. While their hope is to extend forward Tyler Toffoli before the trade deadline, there is a real chance that he gets dealt before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline if they cannot come to terms on a real deal. This is because the Devils' playoff hopes are not particularly high, and he is too good of a player to lose for nothing through free agency.

Because of this, in a recent article for The Athletic, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun listed the Edmonton Oilers as a potential fit for Toffoli. He also noted that Toffoli would be an answer for their second line.

The Oilers have been browsing the trade market for a top-six forward for much of this season. Now that the trade deadline is almost here, this is more of the case than ever before. As a result, it would not be surprising in the slightest if they stepped up their efforts to land Toffoli from the Devils.

Toffoli would be a big-time addition to the Oilers' roster if acquired. He would give them another star sniper to work with, and he could create some real magic on their power play.

At this juncture, a Toffoli trade is far from guaranteed. However, if talks between him and the Devils do not result in a new deal shortly, do not be surprised if the Oilers are among the top suitors for Toffoli over the next few days.
