Insider Says 2 Centers With Term From The Coyotes Could Be Traded
A lot of teams are after rentals at the deadline and that is where a good amount of the focus is on for the Arizona Coyotes' roster. But the team has more than just pending UFAs to offer.
On 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman noted that Nick Bjugstad and Alex Kerfoot should be watched as teams crave centers. This is an especially weak market down the middle this season and the big fish has already gone (Elias Lindholm).
While Bjugstad and Kerfoot aren't top line centers or even second line centers on playoff contenders, they would serve as very good depth for two playoff runs for a team trying to go for it. Bjugstad has size and has logged nearly 17:30 of ice time per game in 61 games. The veteran has 13 goals and 31 points while being one of the only plus players on the entire Coyotes. His $2.1 million AAV cap hit is very affordable without any cap retention.
Kerfoot has recently been filling in on the top line, but he is no stranger to playing up and down the lineup wherever he's needed. He can play in all positions, which proves useful to any team. Kerfoot plays a different style than Bjugstad, but just as effective with 10 goals and 35 points in 61 games while logging 17:18 of ATOI. Even though the Coyotes tried to be more competitive this season and it worked for a time earlier in the season, signing and acquiring players like Bjugstad and Kerfoot were always going to allow the team to dangle them at the trade deadline for even more assets.
