Kraken Rumors: 3 Contract Extension Candidates
The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now because of it. However, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.
In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Seattle Kraken.
Matty Beniers: Matty Beniers' entry-level contract is set to expire at the end of the season. The pending RFA is due for a raise, and that remains the case even if he has struggled a bit this season. When noting that he is an integral part of their future, a long-term deal before the season is over could be on the way.
Eeli Tolvanen: Eeli Tolvanen has been nothing but a success for the Kraken since they claimed him off of waivers from the Nashville Predators. When noting that he is a pending RFA, it would not be surprising if they aim to get him signed to his next deal before the season is over.
Tomas Tatar: Tomas Tatar is a veteran forward who the Kraken could look to keep around beyond this season. He has been a solid fit for their group, and he would be good to have at a cheap cap hit beyond this season because of it.
