Wennberg, 29, has been the subject of trade rumors over the last several weeks. It is understandable, as he is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) on a Kraken team that does not currently hold a playoff spot. Now, given this information from Hakstol, it is clear that a move should be coming shortly.
Wennberg has been generating interest, with teams like the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and Carolina Hurricanes being connected to him. At this juncture, any specific details about a potential Wennberg trade has not been reported yet, but it is clearly something to keep an eye from here.
Wennberg, 29, has appeared in 60 games this season thus far with the Kraken, where he has nine goals to go along with 25 points and a plus-1 rating.
Overall, on a playoff club, Wennberg would be a strong third-line center option. It will be intriguing to see where he ends up going from here, but his time in Seattle appears to be coming to a close.
