Maple Leafs Rumors: Colton Parayko & 4 Others On Team's Radar

The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to improve their defense before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passes. They already made one move, acquiring hard-nosed defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin from the Anaheim Ducks, but there is no question that they could use more depth.

Because of this, the Maple Leafs are interested in Colton Parayko (St. Louis Blues), David Savard (Montreal Canadiens), Matt Dumba (Arizona Coyotes), Mario Ferraro (San Jose Sharks), and Joel Edmundson (Washington Capitals), according to The Fourth Period

Out of this group, Parayko would be the biggest splash, as he is a top-pairing defenseman who is under contract for several more seasons. However, he also has a full no-trade clause, so he will decide if and where he gets moved.

Savard and Ferraro are two more defensemen with term that could be a nice additions to the Maple Leafs' top four. Savard would provide them with a nice veteran on their blue line, while Ferraro would give them a younger defenseman that has the potential to improve.

As for Dumba and Edmundson, both of these veterans would be nice rental additions for the Maple Leafs. Dumba would give them another much-needed right-shot defenseman, while Edmundson's versatility allows him to play the right side.
