Minnesota Wild Rumors: GM Receiving Trade Offers on Brandon Duhaime & Connor Dewar

The Minnesota Wild have a tall task to try and make the Stanley Cup Playoffs as they sit eight points back of the second wild card spot entering Saturday's action. While there's been a ton of chatter about how the Wild aren't trading Marc-Andre Fleury, there's a couple of young forwards who continue to draw interest from other teams.

Speculation continues to brew suggesting the likes of Brandon Duhaime and Connor Dewar continue be two forwards onlooking GM's are asking Bill Guerin about. Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff reported the Vancouver Canucks were very interested in Duhaime, meanwhile Dewar brings more versatility to the table with his ability to play either the wing or down the middle.

Duhaime is 26 and a pending unrestricted free agent making $1.1 million against the cap. He's posted four goals and four assists in 60 games this season and is known as someone who loves to forecheck, throw his weight around and use his speed to throw off d-men into making mistakes. At 6-foot-2 he brings a ton of size and is someone who could be an effective fourth-line winger on a contending team down the stretch.

Dewar on the other hand doesn't have the size of Duhaime, however his versatility and ability to kill penalties make him an attractive trade option. His defensive metrics are in the upper tier of the league and last season he ranked as the second best penalty killer in the league. So far this season, Dewar has managed to record nine goals and 13 points in 54 games.

Look for the Wild to make a couple of moves ahead of the March 8 trade deadline as Guerin is never shy to get involved. With Minnesota out of the playoff picture, it opens up a realm of possibilities on the sellers market.
