New York Rangers Sign Jonathan Quick to Extension

The New York Rangers have made a notable roster move, as they have signed veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick to a one-year, $1.275 million contract extension.

Quick, 38, is in his first season with the Rangers, and it is fair to say that he has been an excellent fit for them. After a disappointing 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights, Quick has bounced back beautifully this campaign with New York. In 21 appearances, the three-time Stanley Cup champion has a 13-5-2 record, a 2.45 goals-against average (GAA), a .916 save percentage (SV%), and two shutouts.

With stats like these, it is quite clear that Quick has been wonderful as the Rangers' backup goalie. He is forming a strong tandem with superstar goalie Igor Shesterkin, so in the end, it makes sense that the Rangers are keeping him around for next season.

Overall, getting Quick locked up for next season at a cap hit just over $1 million is honestly a steal given how well he has played this campaign. It will be intriguing to see how he performs with the club from here after landing this new deal.
