Penguins Rumors: Latest on Bryan Rust's Future in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Penguins are a team to watch extremely closely over the next few days leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. Several of their players have been coming up in the rumor mill due to their very disappointing season, and they could have a much different roster shortly because of it.

However, when it comes to forward Bryan Rust, he is, without a doubt, staying in Pittsburgh. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Penguins went to Rust and informed that they will not ask him to waive his no-trade clause because of his importance to the team. The skilled forward had been generating trade interest around the league.

With this news, it is clear that the Penguins plan to keep Rust around, even while they are setting up for a potential notable retooling period. It is understandable, as he is one of their most important forwards and is a well-respected leader as well.

This is certainly tough news for teams that were looking to add Rust, though. He would have the potential to be a massive addition to a contender, but alas, the Penguins simply have no plans to move him at this juncture.

In 42 games this season with the Penguins, Rust has 18 goals, 36 points, and a plus-15 rating.
