Penguins Rumors: Pittsburgh GM Has Several Trade Offers on the Tables

The Pittsburgh Penguins have disappointed this season and haven't met the sky-high expectations. Now, Kyle Dubas is in between a rock and a hard place and is looking to re-tool on the fly. Dubas is involved in several trade conversations and expects to be one of the busier GM's this next week.

While all the attention is on Jake Guentzel, and rightfully so, the Penguins are trying to move multiple players out before the March 8 trade deadline. Dubas is rumored to be involved in trade talks regarding Reilly Smith, Rickard Rakell, P.O Joseph, and Alex Nedeljkovic.

Guentzel is the biggest fish on the trade market when it comes to forwards. He's banged up at the moment but is expected back in two weeks. The Canucks and Golden Knights continue to be very interested and in current discussions with the Penguins.

Smith's also been linked to the Golden Knights, his former team. With Mark Stone out for the regular season, Vegas has lots of cap space to work with.

Rakell will be much harder to move. Rakell has been awful this season, scoring just eight goals in 45 games. He's signed through the 2027-28 season at $5 million AAV and owns a 8-team no-trade clause. Dubas has shown a history of pulling off trades many felt he'd never be able to, he's gonna need his magic touch to move Rakell at this point.

Nedeljkovic has been linked to the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils. Both teams are looking for more depth in net and he's a prime trade target as he's making just $1.5 million against the cap and is a pending free agent.

Look for Dubas to be very busy ahead of March 8. He's looking to get the Penguins back to the promised land but also is trying to make the roster in Pittsburgh much younger and more versatile.
