Predators Rumors: Nashville Hoping To Re-Sign Coveted Trade Piece

As the NHL trade deadline looms, the Nashville Predators, led by general manager Barry Trotz, are navigating a big decision regarding the future of center Tommy Novak.

Despite generating significant interest from other teams due to his impending unrestricted free agency, Novak's breakout performances have solidified his position as a key player in the Predators' lineup.

Trotz has made it clear that the team's priority is to retain Novak, emphasizing ongoing negotiations for a contract extension as a testament to their commitment to keeping him in Nashville for the long term.

This season, the 26-year-old has scored 12 goals and 32 total points across 50 games played.

While trade rumors swirl around Novak, Trotz and the Predators' management remain steadfast in their desire to prevent Novak from departing in free agency without a substantial return.

"The framework is there. We have to make sure the years and numbers match," Trotz said to Novak's representative recently. "I don't think I can let a player like Tommy Novak go."

With Novak's integral role as a top-six forward and his significant contributions on and off the ice, the Predators see him as essential to their future success.

Over his first three seasons in the NHL, spent entirely with the Predators, Novak has amassed 30 goals and 82 total points across 128 games played.

Thus, despite potential interest from other teams like the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, and Tampa Bay Lightning, the Predators are focused on securing Novak's continued presence in their lineup through a contract extension, ensuring stability and competitiveness for seasons to come.
