Another notable trade target is coming off of the board, as NHL insider Emily Kaplan reported that the New York Rangers are closing in on a trade for Seattle Kraken forward Alex Wennberg.

Wennberg had been connected to the Rangers for quite some time, so it is not too surprising to hear that he is heading there. The Rangers have been in need of help down the middle, as Filip Chytil is done for the season. With this move, Wennberg will be taking over Chytil's spot as New York's third-line center.
Wennberg had been generating plenty of interest as of late, as he had been linked to teams like the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and Carolina Hurricanes. However, he will now be joining the Rangers, and their bottom six is getting a boost because of it.
Wennberg, 29, is on an expiring contract and was a clear trade candidate because of the Kraken's placement in the NHL standings. Now, another solid center trade target is off of the board.
Wennberg has appeared in 60 games this season with the Kraken, where he has nine goals to go along with 25 points. With numbers like these, he should be a good addition to the Rangers' bottom six as they try to go on a run this postseason.
