Flyers Complete Extension With Trade Candidate Nick Seeler

One key defensive trade piece has come off the board, as the Philadelphia Flyers have completed an extension with impending unrestricted free agent Nick Seeler.

It's a four-year deal with a $2.7 million AAV to keep the physical D-man in Philly. As insider Frank Seravalli calls it, "a life-changing extension" for a 30-year-old who nearly quite hockey a few years ago.

Seeler, in his 6th NHL season, has set—or is on pace to set—career highs in almost every category across the board, with 17 minutes per night, 184 blocked shots, 112 hits and 12 points in 63 games.

His signing would take one of the most sought-after blueliners in trade talks around the league off the market.

In the meantime, Seeler has also been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least a week after blocking a shot with his left foot in Monday night's game.

The Flyers are reportedly also still trying to get an extension done on their other notable expiring D-man, Sean Walker, but a trade is still a very real possibility.
