Ryan Johansen & 3 Others Placed On Waivers
With trades around the NHL starting to pick up, the waiver wire is naturally getting busy. Today (March 6) has four players on it, as Ryan Johansen (Philadelphia Flyers), Will Lockwood (Florida Panthers), Jacob Moverare (Los Angeles Kings), and Jaret Anderson-Dolan (Kings) have all been placed on waivers.
Johansen is certainly the most notable of this group. The veteran forward was just traded to the Flyers in the Sean Walker move with the Colorado Avalanche. Yet, instead of joining the Flyers' NHL roster, he will instead be playing in the AHL, assuming he does not get claimed. In 63 games this season, he has 13 goals and 23 points.
Lockwood's waiver placement is in response to the Panthers acquiring star forward Vladimir Tarasenko earlier today from the Ottawa Senators. He could get some attention from teams looking to add some forward depth, as he has a cheap cap hit.
As for Moverare and Anderson-Dolan, they are also two young players who could get the attention of clubs. However, their waiver placements also could be an indicator that the Kings are preparing to make a trade, but alas, time will tell on that front.
We will now need to wait and see if any of these players end up getting claimed from here.
