Senators Rumors: Artem Zub Becoming Trade Candidate

The Ottawa Senators are preparing to be sellers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. It is understandable, as they are having a disappointing 2023-24 season, and their playoff hopes are essentially non-existent at this point of the campaign.

Due to this, players like Vladimir Tarasenko, Dominik Kubalik, and Jakob Chychrun have come up in the rumor mill a lot in recent weeks. However, it appears that another Senator stands a real shot of being dealt over the next week, as The Fourth Period reported that the Senators are also hearing offers for defenseman Artem Zub.

Zub, 28, could certainly generate interest around the league over the next week. He is once again having a solid season with the Senators, as he has three goals, 20 points, and a plus-10 rating in 45 games. Overall, he has been providing solid offense to go along with steady defensive play.

Zub would be a notable addition to a playoff club's top four if acquired because of his all-around solid play. Along with that, he would also be a nice addition for a team looking to improve their penalty kill.

Zub has a $4.6 million cap hit until the end of the 2027-28 season, so he would be much more than just a rental if acquired. Thus, the Sens do not need to rush a move, but it appears that they are at least willing to hear what other clubs have to offer for him.
