Tony DeAngelo & Several Others Placed On Waivers
There have been a ton of trades in the NHL due to trade deadline being so close. Because of this, today (March 7) has several new players on waivers, as Tony DeAngelo (Carolina Hurricanes), Brendan Lemieux (Hurricanes), Antti Raanta (Hurricanes), Jordan Oesterle (Calgary Flames), Boris Katchouk (Chicago Blackhawks), Evan Cormier (Florida Panthers), William Lagesson (Toronto Maple Leafs), and Tobias Bjornfot (Vegas Golden Knights) have all been placed on the wire.
When looking at this list of waiver placements, the Hurricanes stand out. When noting that they are placing three players on waivers, it is quite possible that this is an indicator that they are bringing talent in. They have been heavily linked to Jake Guentzel, but we will need to wait and see what happens on that front.
As for the rest of this group, teams looking for a bit more depth could take a flier on them. While none of these players are stars, they have experience in depth roles. One player who stands out from the non-Hurricanes is Tobias Bjornfot.
Nevertheless, today is a big day for waivers. It will be intriguing to see if any of these players find new homes tomorrow from here.
