TRADE: Bruins Acquire Andrew Peeke From Blue Jackets In One-For-One Deal

The Boston Bruins have made their second move of the day, acquiring more size in defenseman Andrew Peeke from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In return, the Blue Jackets are reportedly receiving defenseman Jakub Zboril and a 2027 third-round pick.

Andrew Peeke, the 25-year-old defenseman known for his physical play, found himself frequently out of the lineup, participating in only 23 games this season.

Despite standing 6-foot-3 and contributing significantly last season with 180 hits and 197 blocked shots, Peeke's limited offensive production and concerning defensive metrics made him a candidate for a trade.

He is in the first year of a three-year extension, with an annual cap hit of $2.75 million. This season, Peeke has scored one goal, eight total points, a -1 plus/minus rating, 47 blocked shots and 43 hits across 23 games played.

In return, Columbus acquires former first-round pick defenseman Jakub Zboril.

The 25-year-old was placed on waivers earlier this season, and had been a depth player for the Bruins, initially positioned as their seventh defenseman at the start of the season.

However, he struggled to maintain his position, eventually being replaced by Mason Lohrei and Parker Wotherspoon.

Over his four-year career, spent entirely with Boston, Zboril has scored one goal and 16 total points across 76 games played, along with an even plus/minus rating.
