Trade: Canadiens and Ducks Pull Off One-for-One Deal
Not all trades can be earth-shattering transactions that move the needle on where the Stanley Cup might land this season, but even teams that aren't in the running for Lord Stanley's mug are looking to make moves for the future. The Anaheim Ducks and Montreal Canadiens have done that today with a trade of recent high draft picks.
The Canadiens have acquired forward Jacob Perreault from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Jan Mysak.

The Ducks have acquired 2020 second-rounder Jan Mysak from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a first-rounder from the same draft, Jacob Perreault.
As the 48th overall selection in the 2020 NHL draft, Mysak, a center, spent the past three seasons with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League. The 21-year-old has 13 goals and 20 points in 48 games this season.
Perrault, also 21, has one NHL game to his credit, back in the 2021–22 season with the Ducks. The right winger was a top scorer in juniors, and was the No. 27 overall selection by Anaheim in the 2020 Draft. He spent the past four seasons with the San Diego Gulls of the AHL, recording 32 goals and 59 assists for 91 points in 161 games. He's also racked up 179 minutes in penalties.
I believe the Canadiens view this as swapping a higher floor player for a higher ceiling player. Mysak was spinning his wheels in Laval and others in the pipeline fit his profile. Perreault hasn’t shown it yet, but they hope to unlock his offensive potential. A low risk HR swing https://t.co/gi4w2OKXOy
