Ruhwedel is a defensive defenseman who can provide depth in Broadway. The 33-year-old right-hander has four points in 46 games this season and while the offense is few and far between, Ruhwedel can kill penalties, block shots and does have 25 games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience.
The Rangers have been busy, already making a deal with the Seattle Kraken and even after this deal, is still in the market for a top-six forward. The Penguins have been busy of late, already moving Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes for a package that includes Michael Bunting.
Ruhwedel is a pending UFA and holds a cap hit of $800,000.
