3 Best Contracts On The New York Islanders

The New York Islanders are known for being an old team with a lot of those veterans on multi-year contracts. While there are some less than ideal contracts on the team, some younger players and a couple of good deals have squeaked through, so let's look at the three best this season.

Brock Nelson

Brock Nelson has been a very underrated producer for the Islanders for a number of years, but it has really started to shine through over the past three when he has been able to score over 30 goals. This season isn't as good as 2022-23, but Nelson still has 30 goals and 61 points in 77 games as a top-six player. He has moved between center and the wing and is under contract for only $6 million AAV through next season as one of the top players on the Islanders.

Noah Dobson

The Islanders bridged Noah Dobson, which now looks like it is going to hurt them for his next contract. While he is greatly outperforming his current cap hit of $4 million AAV that spans until the end of next season, he is going to get at least double what he's earning on his current deal. Dobson is the team's number one defender, and at 24 years old, he is playing 25 minutes per game and has 10 goals and 68 points in 77 games. Up until the Islanders went through a bit of struggles, Dobson was rolling along with a point-per-game this season.

Alexander Romanov

Alexander Romanov isn't on the same level as Dobson, but the young Russian defender can play some great defense and is very physical. He more than does his job and is easily a top-four defender on the Islanders. His contract also runs through next season, but the difference is that his cap hit is only $2.5 million AAV. For a top-four defender that plays like he does, it is a good deal and he has the best plus/minus on the team by a wide margin.
