3 Best Contracts On The Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks have a number of solid contracts on their team this season and players outperforming their contracts is a big reason for all of the success. While these players didn't make the top-three contracts on the team from my point of view, they are still on good deals. These players include Filip Hronek, Dakota Joshua, Thatcher Demko, and J.T. Miller.
Nils Hoglander
Nils Hoglander has taken a big step this season and is proving he can be a nice complementary piece in the top-six to one of the elite centermen. The 23-year-old has a cap hit of $1.1 million AAV through 2025 and has managed to score 23 goals this season while only averaging 12 minutes per game. For his role, his production has been solid and is only going to get better.
Elias Pettersson
Elias Pettersson signed a three-year deal off of his entry-level contract and by the end of it, this deal is looking good. He is in the final year of the three-year, $7.35 million AAV deal and even though he has taken a bit of a step back offensively, it's not much and he hasn't had the linemates he did last season. Pettersson still has 34 goals and 88 points in 80 games and not only logs the most ice time among forwards, but the third most on the team. He signed for eight more years at over $4 million AAV more than he is earning this season.
Quinn Hughes
Quinn Hughes has a good shot at winning the Norris Trophy and he isn't close to being the highest paid defenseman this season. The Canucks got him on what looks like a very good deal through 2027 at $7.85 million AAV. He has 17 goals and 91 points in 80 games while playing nearly 25 minutes a night against the top competition. He is underrated defensively as well and is easily one of the best defensemen in the league. His next contract is going to be massive.
