3 Best Contracts On The Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights have a very good looking team when healthy and have a number of solid contracts and contributors to help with that success. The team is always being re-evaluated and surprising moves are regularly made to keep this team at the top. We are going to look at the three best contracts on Vegas this season.
Logan Thompson
Logan Thompson's contract is not only the best on the team, but one of the best in the entire league. He came into the season as a backup goalie, but has played much more than that since Adin Hill has been injured multiple times. This has allowed for Thompson to really settle in this season and play well. He is 24-14-5 with a 2.74 GAA, .907 SV%, and one shutout. Though his numbers are down from last season, his second half has been much better and his cap hit is $766,667 AAV through next season.
Jonathan Marchessault
Jonathan Marchessault won the Conn Smythe last season as the Golden Knights hoisted the Stanley Cup. He is not only consistently impactful during the regular season, he was a major reason why Vegas was the last team standing. He is in the final year of his six-year, $5 million AAV deal, but he is having a great year for the Golden Knights once again. The top line winger has 42 goals and 69 points in 80 games this season. While the points aren't that impressive, he leads the team in goals and points. Marchessault is going to get a nice payday this offseason.
Chandler Stephenson
Chandler Stephenson has been really underpaid for a couple of years now. Since the Golden Knights acquired him, he has broken out and outperformed his contract by a wide margin. The 29-year-old broke out in the second of his current four-year deal and while he won't hit 60 points this season, he still did in back-to-back seasons. Stephenson is more of a playmaker, but for just $2.75 million AAV, he has provided Vegas with 16 goals and 51 points this season. That is much more than the Golden Knights are paying for.
