Blackhawks Rumors: Connor Murphy Generated Trade Interest

The Chicago Blackhawks are currently rebuilding, so they naturally have received interest for their veteran players since it began. That remained the case during this season as well.

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy generated trade interest before getting injured. That is not surprising, as he is a solid shutdown defenseman who can play top-four minutes and kill penalties.

Murphy, 31, missed three months of action this season before returning to the lineup for three games during the Blackhawks' final stretch of the year. In 46 games this season with the Blackhawks, he had two goals, eight points, 116 hits, and a minus-19 rating.

It is quite likely that Murphy will garner interest around the league again during the summer. It is not a secret that NHL teams love to add big right-shot defensemen. However, it will be intriguing to see if the Blackhawks end up being willing to move him this summer from here.

Some teams who could consider making a push for Murphy over the offseason include the Toronto Maple Leafs, Carolina Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabres, Washington Capitals, and Ottawa Senators.

We will need to wait and see if the Blackhawks decide to trade him this offseason. They could get a decent return.
