Colorado Avalanche's 3 Best Contracts of 2023-24
The Colorado Avalanche have been dominant this season once again and have done so with a number of great contracts. With a lot of them to choose from, these are the three best of 2023-24.
Casey Mittelstadt
The Colorado Avalanche brought over Casey Mittelstadt to be their second line center for the remainder of the season and hopefully longer and he is on a great contract right now. While he is a RFA at the end of the season, Mittelstadt has 18 goals and 54 points in 73 games. Fortunately he broke out while on a low AAV contract and he makes $2.5 million AAV this season.
Jonathan Drouin
Jonathan Drouin desperately needed a change in scenery from the Montreal Canadiens and has done very well on the Avalanche turning his career back around. He has played in the top-six this season and benefited from playing alongside Nathan MacKinnon. Drouin has a cap hit of $825,000 this season and has 15 goals and 48 points. Though a lot of the production is based on who he's playing with, not every player can do what he has this season while playing with elite talent.
Devon Toews
This is the final year the Avalanche are going to benefit from Devon Toews' great contract. The team got him from the New York Islanders for pretty cheap and gave him a four-year deal which he is in the final year of. Toews' next contract proves how much he is underpaid for the amazing job he does all over the ice as he was signed to a seven-year, $7.25 million AAV contract. He plays a lot, is underrated offensively, and is very good defensively.
