Flyers' Denis Gurianov Expected to Sign Overseas

Philadelphia Flyers forward Denis Gurianov is expected to be heading overseas. According to a report from allhockey.ru, the 2015 first-round pick is expected to sign with CSKA Moscow this offseason.

Gurianov, 26, had an underwhelming 2023-24 season. In 18 games split between the Nashville Predators and Flyers, he had just one goal and one assist. He also spent a good chunk of the year down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Milwaukee Admirals, where he had 12 goals to go along with 30 points and a plus-11 rating.

Gurianov notably took a step in the wrong direction during the 2022-23 campaign as well. After posting back-to-back seasons with at least 30 points, he had just seven goals in 17 points in 66 games split between the Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens in 2022-23.

Gurianov was once viewed as a top prospect, as he was selected during the 2015 NHL Entry Draft as the 12th overall pick. He showed promise as a potential impactful sniper in 2019-20 with the Stars, as he had 20 goals and 29 points in 64 games with the club. However, he was never able to build off it.

Given the fact that Gurianov has played on four different NHL teams since last season, it is not too surprising to see that he is likely heading to the KHL. In 298 career NHL games, he has 52 goals and 113 points.
