Golden Knights Rumors: 3 Offseason Suitors for Alec Martinez
The Vegas Golden Knights made a big move earlier this week, signing star defenseman Noah Hanifin to an eight-year contract extension. They have more big decisions to make when it comes to their pending UFAs from here. However, with Hanifin, a left-shot defenseman, being signed, that may be an indicator that Alec Martinez will not be brought back. If he isn't, look for these clubs to target him during the summer.
Los Angeles Kings: A reunion between Martinez and the Los Angeles Kings could make sense. It is clear that the Kings need more depth on the left side of their defense, and Martinez would be a solid player to bring back because of it. He would fit on their bottom pairing and be a good mentor for their young defenders.
Detroit Red Wings: The Detroit Red Wings have been connected to Martinez in the past and could look to sign him in free agency this summer because of it. The Michigan native would work nicely on their bottom pairing and be a good addition to their penalty kill if signed.
Seattle Kraken: The Seattle Kraken should be looking to improve their defense during the offseason. Bringing in an experienced left-shot defenseman could be worthwhile for them, especially with how this season has gone for the club.
