Kraken Sign A Top Free Agent Goalie

Another top NCAA free agent has inked a pro contract, as the Seattle Kraken have signed goaltender Victor Ostman to a two-year ELC.

The contract pays Ostman a $950,000 AAV. It includes signing bonuses of $190,000. He'll be a restricted free agent upon its expiry in 2026.

Ostman, 23, spent the past four years with the University of Maine Black Bears, where, in 86 games, he's posted a .905 save percentage, 2.82 goals against average, and five shutouts. His just-concluded senior year was, however, his most challenging as he finished with a save percentage below .900 for the first time and even lost the starting job in net to freshman keeper Albin Boija for the last 8 games before the NCAA tournament.

Ostman was on the NHL radar in 2023 as well, and he spent time at the Vancouver Canucks' development camp last summer.

With size (6'4", 205 pounds), and athleticism, Ostman has the potential to make an impression in the Kraken's system. There's a chance that he could suit up for the rest of the 2023-24 AHL season on an ATO (amateur tryout) with Seattle's affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
