Maple Leafs to Sign Prospect Jacob Quillan

The Toronto Maple Leafs are adding to their prospect pool, as NHL insider Elliotte Friedman is reporting that the Original Six club is signing undrafted college free agent Jacob Quillan.
Quillan was among the top college free agents who were available for the taking, and now we know which club is getting him. The 22-year-old center just completed his third season with Quinnipiac University and is now officially set to begin his professional career with the Maple Leafs organization.

Quillan just had a strong season as an alternate captain with Quinnipiac, as he had 17 goals to go along with a career-high 46 points in 39 games. This came after he had another solid season with the school in 2022-23, posting 19 goals and 38 points in 41 games played.

With this move, the Maple Leafs are improving their prospect pool by bringing in a skilled player who has the potential to blossom into an NHL talent. Given how well Quillan played at the NCAA level, it is not surprising that he generated a lot of interest. However, the Leafs are the lucky club to have landed him.

It will be interesting to see how much of an impact Quillan makes for the Maple Leafs after signing this entry-level contract with the club from here.
