Oilers Rumors: Latest on Connor McDavid's Injury
Edmonton Oilers superstar center Connor McDavid has been dealing with a day-to-day lower-body injury. With the playoffs right around the corner, the expectation has been that the Hart Memorial Trophy candidate will play it safely. Now, we have been given confirmation that this is the case.
While speaking with reporters, including Ryan Rishaug, McDavid shared that he is unlikely to play in the Oilers' Friday night (April 12) matchup against the Arizona Coyotes. He also did not confirm that he will play against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday (April 13), either.
McDavid says he’s not likely to go tonight. Said it was a bit of a nagging injury as well as something he tweaked vs Calgary, but he expects to be fully healed up by playoffs. Didn’t commit to tomorrow vs Van either. Skated hard for over 30 mins today.

While McDavid is currently in the mix to be the NHL's leading scorer this season, it is very wise that he is not trying to play through his injury. The playoffs are far more important than securing another scoring title. This is especially so when noting that the Oilers are among the NHL's favorites heading into the postseason.
We will now need to wait and see when McDavid is good to go from here. In 74 games this season with the Oilers, No. 97 has 31 goals, 99 assists, 130 points, and a plus-34 rating.
