Penguins Rumors: 3 Trade Destinations for Reilly Smith
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Reilly Smith struggled to fit into their system during his first season with the club. Because of this, he generated a lot of trade buzz leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. While he did not get moved, there is an expectation that he will be shopped during the summer. Let's discuss three teams who could target him now.
Minnesota Wild: The Minnesota Wild are likely going to look to boost their forward group this offseason. It was a tough year for the Wild and they need more scoring, so it would not be surprising if they looked to add Smith. He would give their middle six a nice jolt.
Seattle Kraken: The Seattle Kraken could consider making a push for Smith this offseason. Similar to the Wild, it was a rough year for Seattle, and their scoring woes played a role in that. Smith would fit well on their second line and be an obvious option for their power play.
Vegas Golden Knights: The Vegas Golden Knights were rumored to be connected to Smith at the deadline. They know him well, of course, as he was with the club since their inaugural season until this campaign. They have missed him in their top nine, so a reunion could make sense if salary is retained.
