Penguins Rumors: Rickard Rakell Becoming Trade Candidate

After an incredibly disappointing season, the Pittsburgh Penguins are preparing for a busy summer. They headed into this season with the expectation of being potential contenders, but they failed to make the postseason. Because of this, changes to their group will occur this offseason.

One player from the Penguins who the club is expected to listen to offers for is veteran forward Rickard Rakell.

Rakell struggled with consistency this season, and it led to him creating some trade chatter nearing the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. While he was a player to watch at the deadline, the Penguins elected to hold onto him for the rest of the season. However, dthere’s a real shot that they will consider the idea of moving him this offseason.

There certainly could be some real interest in Rakell this offseason. While he had a down year, he is a solid top-six forward when playing at his best. Because of this, teams looking for offense could certainly consider making a push for him.
