Red Wings' Patrick Kane Reportedly Hasn't Decided Which Team He Will Sign Next Contract With
Despite previous reports indicating that Patrick Kane had a verbal agreement to sign a new deal with the Detroit Red Wings in the offseason, it appears as though the veteran is undecided on where he will sign next season according to Brad Galli.
Kane has been somewhat of a saviour for the Red Wings, along with a couple others. This team, that is still fighting to get into the postseason, would not be where they are without the added offense that Kane has brought. What makes it more impressive is that the three-time Stanley Cup winner is doing so after returning from a major injury and got himself in arguably better shape than he was last season.
This is the third original-six team that Kane has played for and he has found real chemistry in Detroit as the team is on the rise. He appears to still have a lot of game left as "Showtime" is ending games in dramatic fashion and scoring at big moments to give the Red Wings much-needed points.
Kane has 20 goals and 44 points in 46 games this season while averaging over 18 minutes of ice time per game. The 35-year-old is on a one-year deal with the Red Wings at a cap hit of $2.75 million AAV. He is worth much more than that and it is expected that he gets a larger, potentially multi-year deal this offseason. Don't expect a huge pay bump if he is set on winning, but the Red Wings could surely use him in their top-six once again for a couple more seasons.
