3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Cam Talbot

The Los Angeles Kings are very likely to move on from Cam Talbot this summer as GM Rob Blake looks to upgrade in net. Talbot lost his starting job to David Rittich during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and now the pending unrestricted free-agent looks to join another team for next season.

Talbot turns 37 this summer and could look to prolong his career with another one-year contract once free agency opens. He posted an impressive .913 Sv.% in 54 games during the regular season but unfortunately couldn't keep it up in the playoffs, allowing 5.30 goals against in three appearances.

Here's three teams who may look to Talbot in a backup role next season:

Nashville Predators

The Predators are going to receive trade offers for Juuse Saros and with Kevin Lankinen hitting free agency, could be in the market for a veteran goaltender. The Preds have a projected $19.2 million in cap space to work with and are going to continue to re-tool on the fly as they exceeded expectations this season. Talbot as a 1-B makes a ton of sense.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins are going to make changes to their roster this summer which could include moving out Tristan Jarry. Alex Nedeljkovic is a pending free agent and their goaltending depth could look much different next season. Talbot would be a smart get as a proven veteran who can push for the starter's crease. The fact he comes in on the cheap also will appeal to Kyle Dubas who has limited cap space to work with this summer.

Buffalo Sabres

Lindy Ruff loves veteran goalies and right now there aren't many to choose from in Buffalo. Devon Levi was up and down throughout the entire season and the Sabres are going to look at some other options at some point this summer. Talbot is a long shot but could make some sense if they decide to make a change from Levi and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen who is a pending restricted free agent.
