3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Jake Guentzel

The Carolina Hurricanes allowed four goals in the third period and fell to the New York Rangers by a 5-3 final score in Game 6, ending their season. Now, the Hurricanes face an offseason of uncertainty. Jake Guentzel is their biggest pending UFA, and there is a chance that he will hit the market. If he does, look for these three clubs to target him.

Pittsburgh Penguins: If Guentzel reaches the market, the Penguins could absolutely try to bring him back. The star winger was a significant part of their offense while there and was Sidney Crosby's right-hand man. Thus, look for Pittsburgh to make a big push for him if he becomes available on the market.

Detroit Red Wings: The Detroit Red Wings were connected to Guentzel at the deadline. With Detroit looking to finally take that next step and become legitimate contenders, they certainly could pursue him again. He would give them a significant boost in their top six and instantly become their top sniper.

Vancouver Canucks: The Vancouver Canucks were heavily connected to Guentzel leading up to the deadline before he was moved to the Hurricanes. If the Canucks end up losing some of their pending UFAs, it could open the door to them looking to add him in free agency.
