3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Sean Monahan

Sean Monahan will be hitting the free-agent market this summer as it was a disappointing end to his season in Winnipeg. The Jets couldn't get passed the Colorado Avalanche and now Monahan and his agent prepare for offers come July 1.

The Jets jumped the trade market acquiring Monahan ahead of the March 9 trade deadline as he was in demand for a number of reasons including his two-way game and ability to make an impact up and down the lineup.

Here's three teams who will have interest in signing Monahan this summer:

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres brought back Lindy Ruff and are going to prioritize NHL proven talent this offseason who can help up front. Monahan posted 59 points between the Montreal Canadiens and Jets and will likely be looking for a multi-year deal around $4-5 million this offseason. The Sabres can afford him and if they want to get back into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference, are going to need to improve their offense and Monahan helps.

Utah ______

Owner Ryan Smith isn't messing around and he wants to spend to the salary cap as soon as possible. Utah has over $40 million in cap space to work with and they have many holes, including depth at centre. Monahan can help provide a veteran presence and someone who has consistently produced regardless of what jersey he's wearing.

Nashville Predators

The Preds are thin up front and relied heavily on Ryan O'Reilly carrying the load down the middle of the ice. Monahan would be a nice compliment up front and can slide over to the wing which is the type of versatility Nashville craves. The Predators have $16 million in cap space to work with this summer and will certainly be in the market for some help up front.
