Avs' Jonathan Drouin Comments on his Future in Colorado
The Colorado Avalanche begin their offseason, several weeks earlier than anticipated. The roster next season will certainly look much different than their playoff roster, with several pending free agents likely hitting the open market this summer.
Jonathan Drouin is one forward to watch. The 29-year-old completed his first season with the Avs in 2023-24, re-finding his offensive touch and enjoyed his best season since 2018-19. Drouin posted 56 points in 79 games and added another three points in three playoff games.
The former third-overall pick made it loud and clear to management after the team's playoff exit, he'd like to return to Colorado next season:

Drouin signed a one-year $825,000 deal with the Avs last summer and is likely to receive a multi-year extension north of $2 million per season on his next deal. Colorado has $15.9 million in available cap space this offseason and also have Valeri Nichuskin's suspension to consider within their finances. No word yet if Drouin is in their long-term plans, but one thing's for sure, he'd like to return if there's room.
