Blackhawks Rumors: 3 Free-Agent Destinations for Tyler Johnson

The Chicago Blackhawks are expected to let veteran forward Tyler Johnson leave through free agency. When noting that he is still a solid bottom-six forward who can provide secondary scoring, there should be interest in his services. Let's discuss three teams who could look to add him now.

Seattle Kraken: The Seattle Kraken could use a bit more offense in their bottom six, so they could consider making a push for Johnson. He would also be an option for their second power-play unit, as he can still produce fairly well at this juncture of his career.

Tampa Bay Lightning: The Tampa Bay Lightning are being viewed as a possible landing spot for Johnson. He of course started his career there, and they could consider bringing him back at a cheap price for their bottom six.

Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pittsburgh Penguins will likely look to boost their bottom six this offseason after a disappointing 2023-24 campaign. Johnson, who scored 17 goals this season, would have the potential to give them just that. He would also offer them versatility, as he can play both down the middle and on the wing.
