Canadiens Rumors: Christian Dvorak Named Trade Candidate

The Montreal Canadiens are expected to have a busy offseason. The Original Six club wants to take a step forward in 2024-25, so there is a real expectation that they will make several changes to their group.

One of their players is now starting to pick up some steam in the rumor mill, as forward Christian Dvorak has made an appearance on Frank Seravalli's latest Trade Targets board for Daily Faceoff.

Dvorak, 28, has come up in the rumor mill at times over the last two seasons, and now he is once again creating chatter. It is understandable, as the fit has not been the greatest in Montreal. The eight-year veteran has not been the top-six center that they envisioned he would be, and a change of scenery may be best for both parties at this juncture.

Dvorak had a disappointing 2023-24 season, as he not only struggled to produce offensively but dealt with injury trouble. In 30 games, the 6-foot-1 center posted five goals, four assists, and a minus-5 rating.

Dvorak carries a $4.45 million cap hit until the completion of the 2024-25 season. As a result, if they hope to move him this summer, there is a pretty good chance that they will need to retain some of his salary. In that scenario, there could be a team out there willing to take a gamble on the two-way forward. We will need to wait and see what happens on that front.
