Devils Rumors: 2 Coaches on New Jersey's Radar
The New Jersey Devils are among the clubs looking for their next head coach. Former interim head coach Travis Green landed a new gig to be head coach of the Ottawa Senators. As a result, the Devils are browsing the market for a new bench boss.
Former St. Louis Blues bench boss Craig Berube has been connected to the Devils in recent days, but according to NHL Darren Dreger, New Jersey has also spoken with former Edmonton Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft.
A lot of focus around Craig Berube…with good reason. The New Jersey Devils are speaking with other coaching candidates including former @EdmontonOilers head coach Jay Woodcroft.

Berube is one of the top, if not the top, head coaching candidates available for the taking. The former NHL enforcer had plenty of success with the Blues, as he notably led the Central Division club to a Stanley Cup in 2019. As a result, bringing in a coach who has led a team to the Cup certainly would be beneficial for a team with high expectations like the Devils.
Woodcroft is another big-name coach looking for his next job. The 47-year-old was let go by the Oilers in the early stages of the regular season due to this horrendous start. However, despite his tough end with the Oilers, he still put together an impressive 79-41-13 record behind their bench.
The Devils are likely going to continue to explore their options from here, but it is not too surprising that both Berube and Woodcroft are among their top choices.
