Flyers Captain Sean Couturier Changes Agents; Trade Request Incoming?
The 2023-24 season was a rough one for Philadelphia Flyers captain Sean Couturier as he was called out in the media numerous times by his head coach John Tortorella and was even made a healthy scratch for the first time in his career. It sounds like there were some communication issues at many levels and Couturier has decided to make a change, moving on to another agent.

There's been some reports Couturier wasn't happy that his last agent went public with the displeasure about his player's playing time and evidently, has decided to make a change. Couturier appeared in 74 games registering only 38 points. It was his worst point-per-game production since the 2016-17 season.
I gave it a day to let those sound off on Sean Couturier switching agents.

My final thought is he switched agents because his agent publicly spoke about the benchings, and it obviously rubbed Couturier the wrong way. The agent should have just kept quiet, but he didn't.
The Flyers captain is signed through the 2029-30 season at $7.75 million AAV and holds a full no-movement clause until the final season of his contract. At this point, the trade rumors may have sparked for one day, but have quickly been doused out.
My understanding of Sean Couturier changing agents is that it's primarily about communication. He has a more established agency now that can go to the Flyers' F.O. if there any issues that arise.

No, he's not asking for a trade or anything like that.
Couturier's long-time teammate Scott Laughton was recently on the Nasty Knuckles podcast and had glowing things to say about the team's leader. It's pretty obvious his teammates want him to go nowhere and it's likely GM Daniel Briere feels the very same way, regardless of how last season played out for Couturier or the Flyers in general:
