Insider Links Jake DeBrusk To Western Conference Team

After spending his entire 7-year career there, we know that Jake DeBrusk wants to continue to be a Boston Bruin, even as his two-year, $8 million deal comes to an end, and he's set to enter free agency. And we also know that the Bruins would like to keep him, but as we relayed recently, Boston GM Don Sweeney is not prepared to overpay for him, so we must consider the alternatives.

A three-time 20-goal scorer, DeBrusk's production slipped a bit this season to 19 goals and 40 points, but he showed up big-time in the playoffs, as the team leader in goals (5) and points (11) in 13 games before their elimination at the hands of the Florida Panthers.

According to insider Elliotte Friedman, DeBrusk will definitely have some suitors on the free agent market if it gets to that, particularly from the more offensively-challenged teams.

One of the things I have heard... is that there are teams looking for scoring who are going to be interested. I know some other teams have speculated that Seattle would be the kind of team that would be interested in DeBrusk.

The Kraken certainly are a team that's looking for an offensive boost. At 2.61 goals per game this season, they finished 29th in the NHL, a huge drop-off from their Cinderella sophomore season in 2022-23 when they finished 6th in the NHL at 3.14 goals per game.

Seattle knows first-hand, as well, what DeBrusk can do, as he's recorded three goals in five games against them in his career, with a +3 rating.

We'll keep our eyes on the Kraken if the Bruins aren't able to get DeBrusk's signature on a new deal before July 1st.
