Maple Leafs Rumors: Tyler Bertuzzi Linked to Metro Club

Tyler Bertuzzi is one of the top players who could hit the free agent market this summer. While the Toronto Maple Leafs are interested in bringing him back, they have other big decisions to make, and a return is not set in stone.

If the Maple Leafs and Bertuzzi can’t agree to terms on a new deal, the skilled winger will generate a lot of interest in free agency. One specific that reportedly has him on their radar is the Washington Capitals.

While the Capitals made the playoffs this year, there is no question that the Metropolitan Division club needs to improve their scoring dramatically. Their top six needs to be upgraded if they hope to become a bigger threat in the Eastern Conference. Thus, a player like Bertuzzi certainly would make sense for them.

Bertuzzi would fit in very nicely on the Capitals’ second line and power play because of his offensive skills. However, he would also give the Capitals far more bite, as he plays an immensely heavy game.

Bertuzzi will be very hot commodity if he hits the free agent market because of his strong all-around play. With the Capitals looking to become more legitimate contenders, look for them to make a big push for Bertuzzi if he reaches the free agent market this July.
